Is your child going to sit the 11+ exam this or next September? Are you considering extra tuition to support your child in reaching his/her best at the 11+ test?
Will you benefit from your child attending group tuition or you would prefer receiving 1:1 individual lessons tailored to your child's learning needs and objectives?
If you are considering any of the above options, then give us a call to discuss further and arrange a no-obligation assessment which will provide you with a report of your child's strengths in the following areas:
- Verbal Reasoning
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
There are a few steps which each student should take to ensure his/her success at the 11+ test.
Every child's learning at 11+ Training begins with an assessment the results of which form the basis of our understanding of your child's learning needs.
The assessment test lasts for approximately an hour and is aimed to provide us with information about your child's strengths and weaknesses in the four core subjects of the 11+ Exam, namely English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
In view of your personal preferences for individual or group tutoring, we create a detailed individual learning plan which will be implemented in developing a learning programme that will help your child reach his/her full potential and achieve the learning goals set at the beginning of each term. The individual learning plan will consist of the following: Current Strengths, Current Weaknesses, Learning Objectives, Timeframe, Review Notes.
Your child will attend a 90 minute session broken down to two sessions of 40 minutes each with a 10 minute break in between. There is an opportunity to attend 11+ Tutoring once or twice a week depending on your child's learning objectives and your personal preferences. Usually, children in Year 4 will attend the course once a week, gradually building up to two sessions per week towards the end of Year 4 and the beginning of Year 5.
During each session your child will benefit from individual work on a 1:1 basis with a teacher. There will be some teacher led group activities with peers of similar abilities as well.
Research in children's learning and development has shown that children benefit most when being given an opportunity to focus on their own but strive to succeed equally well when in a group environment of peers with similar abilities where they gain a sense of belonging which further increases their emotional well-being and personal motivation to learn.
Your child's progress will be continuously monitored and feedback will be provided on an ongoing basis because we believe that each child's learning experience is unique to themselves and therefore a positive collaboration between parents-children-teachers is important to the child's learning success and enjoyment.
At the end of each session your child will receive some homework which should be completed before the next session. Regular engagement of your child with the material contained in the 11+ test will ensure that your child will get used to the strict timing and will develop a routine of self motivation to learn and achieve his/her objectives which will be beneficial to your child not only during the 11+ test but also in achieving success in other aspects of their future life.
Learning sessions take place each week during the academic year with a week break for Christmas and a week break for Easter.
At the end of the academic year all children are offered to sit a Mock exam, subject to a prior booking* requirement, which will evaluate their learning in a similar to the real 11+ test environment.
At 11+ Training we offer intensive summer courses as well for those children who are in year 5 and will be sitting the 11+ exam in the following September.
